We are the Thordarson's! What started off as a small hobby farm with a few chickens and miniature horses, we soon grew to be what we are today. We started off wanting to provide our three boys with a fun learning experience, and when we saw the joy that our animals brought to them, we decided that we wanted to share that same joy with others. We started providing farm tours May 2021 and then became an animal sanctuary, where we take animals in that are in need of a home and work with them, sometimes they stay and sometimes we find them a good home elsewhere. Janet is a Psychiatric Nurse and Jon is a Crane Operator, and we work together with our kids to run our farm! We enjoy sharing our animals with others, and providing a fun learning experience for all! We have met so many families the past two summers, and take such pride in what we do. We plan to remain open year round, and provide fall and winter activities. We are hoping to plan a Christmas light show, build a toboggan hill, and make an ice rink to enjoy near our animals. All of our earnings at our farm go back to the animals, whether it pays for food, vet bills, or their barn. We also help take in other animals that are at risk of going to auction or need to find a new home asap. We have taken in horses, donkeys, bunnies, cows, pigs, kittens, and goats. We never imagined we would be where we are today, and are so thankful for the love and support. Our animals are apart of our family, are loved and handled every day, and are so friendly to be around.
We have been working hard this spring 2022 and it is now official! We are now a Registered Not-for-profit Corporation! What does this mean? Changes! Growth! More fun! We are so excited for what the future holds for us, and we look forward to sharing it with all of you!
Our Mission
Provide a sanctuary and voice for animals in Canada and ensure that every animal lives a healthy and happy life, while providing the public with an enhanced learning experience through guided tours. Ensuring that the public respects the uniqueness of each individual animal and leave our farm with a new-found love for animals.
This will be accomplished through rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming, and teaching others about each species and sharing each of our animal’s story.
Our Vision
To share our love of animals with the world, while teaching others how to connect with and value them. To have visitors leave our farm with a new-found love for farm animals, a stronger knowledge base, and lived experience. To have therapeutic effects on others through bonding with our animals, while improving mental health, and promoting lasting and mutually life enhancing relationships.
Our Values
Respect, love, humanity, professionalism, collaboration, creativity, and accountability for all animals in our care.
